Fourth Tournament Dissection

Every Tournament has been a rousing success, with greater than 16 people at each event! Even though this has often meant that its a chance for 5 rounds, its never gone that long (thanks, me – twice!), and we’ve been out at a reasonable time. So, how’d everything break down?

Lets take a look!

First, Factions

Protectorate 4
Retribution 3
Circle of Orboros 2
Cygnar 2
Khador 2
Minions 1
Mercs 1
Trollbloods 1
Cryx 1
Legion 1
Convergence 1

As always, we had a solid spread, though this time we had a preponderance of Protectorate and Retribution. There is a bright light to that, however, in that we were finally able to check off some boxes in the faction attendance sheet, as both Convergence and Legion made their first showings! The convergence player even picked the faction specifically to round out the numbers, and then won the whole thing with it!

Now, Themes!

Retribution – Defenders of Ios 5
Protectorate – Exemplar Interdiction 3
Protectorate – Creators Might 3
Circle of Orboros – Bones of Orboros 2
Convergence – Destruction Initiative 2
Cygnar – Gravediggers 2
Legion – Children of the Dragon 2
Mercs – Irregulars 2
Protectorate – Faithful Masses 2
Circle of Orboros – Devourers Host 1
Circle of Orboros – Secret Masters 1
Cryx – Ghost Fleet 1
Cryx – Black Industries 1
Cygnar – Storm Division 1
Cygnar – Sons of the Tempest 1
Khador – Winters Wolves 1
Khador – Legion of Steel 1
Khador – Jaws of the Wolf 1
Minions – Will Work for Food 1
Minions – Blindwater Congregation 1
Retribution – Legions of Dawn 1
Trollbloods – Band of Heroes 1
Trollbloods – Storm of the North 1

Much like the last time, the largest represented factions also had the most duplication in themes. That could be indicative of Theme under or overbalance, or simply a desire to stick with lists that work, which isn’t a terrible plan.

Now lets break the Themes down into caster-lists.

MacBain – Mercs Irregulars 2
Rahn – Retribution Defenders of Ios 2
Denny 2 – Cryx Ghost Fleet 1
Asphyxious 3 – Cryx Black Industries 1
Harbinger – Protectorate Faithful Masses 1
Testament – Protectorate Exemplar Interdiction 1
Elara 2 – Retribution Defenders of Ios 1
Severius 1 – Protectorate Creators Might 1
Kreoss 3 – Protectorate Exemplar Interdiction 1
Haley 3 – Cygnar Gravediggers 1
Nemo 3 – Cygnar Storm Division 1
Krueger 1 – Circle of Orboros Devourers Host 1
Krueger 2 – Circle of Orboros Bones of Orboros 1
Baldur 1 – Circle of Orboros Bones of Orboros 1
Mohsar – Circle of Orboros Secret Masters 1
Thyra – Protectorate Faithful Masses 1
Reznik 1 – Protectorate Creators Might 1
Madrak 1 – Trollbloods Band of Heroes 1
Kolgrima – Trollbloods Storm of the North 1
Rask – Minions Will Work for Food 1
Maelock – Minions Blindwater Congregation 1
Garryth – Retribution Defenders of Ios 1
Axis – Convergence Destruction Initiative 1
Orion – Convergence Destruction Initiative 1
Kaelyssa – Retribution Legions of Dawn 1
Ossyan – Retribution Defenders of Ios 1
Old Witch 2 – Khador Winters Wolves 1
Vlad 3 – Khador Legion of Steel 1
Seige 1 – Cygnar Sons of the Tempest 1
Seige 2 – Cygnar Gravediggers 1
Fyanna 2 – Legion Children of the Dragon 1
Thagros 1 – Legion Children of the Dragon 1
Amon – Protectorate Creators Might 1
Vindictus – Protectorate Exemplar Interdiction 1
Karchev – Khador Jaws of the Wolf 1

Even with all the theme duplication, only two casters came out as being played in the same theme. There is an absolute ton of diversity, now, and its amazing to see.

well, on Feb 24th, we’ve got the final non-LCQ tournament to determine the last three slots. I look forward to getting some 4 more games in then!

Thanks for readin!
