Fifth Tournament Dissection!

So, a few weekends back we had the final 3 place qualifier for the Finals in April. It was a grand turnout with 21 people showing up, the greatest so far. With only one more slot available at the LCQ in West Virginia, its going to be tight to get that last ticket. Remember, anyone can come and play, but only the highest unqualified player will make it in!

Lets take a look at tournament 5

First, Factions:

Protectorate 3
Khador 3
Grymkin 2
Retribution 2
Circle 2
Cygnar 2
Trollblood 2
Cryx 2
Skorne 1
Minions 1
Mercenaries 1
Legion 0
Convergence 0

Once again, we had a void with Legion and Convergence, but otherwise maintained pretty steady with the quantity of factions relative to player size. nothing is really outnumbering anything else. to a massive degree.

Themes:

Khador Jaws of the Wolf 3
Protectorate Faithful Masses 3
Cryx Dark Host 2
Grymkin Bump in the Night 2
Mercenaries Irregulars 2
Protectorate Creators Might 2
Retribution Defenders of Ios 2
Trollblood Band of Heroes 2
Trollblood Storm of the North 2
Circle Bones of Orboros 1
Circle Devourers Host 1
Circle none 1
Circle Wild Hunt 1
Cryx Infernal Machines 1
Cryx Scourge of the Broken Coast 1
Cygnar Gravediggers 1
Cygnar Sons of Tempest 1
Cygnar Sons of the Tempest 1
Cygnar Storm Division 1
Grymkin Dark Menagerie 1
Grymkin Dark Menegeri 1
Khador Legion of Steel 1
Khador Winter Guard Command 1
Khador Wolves of Winter 1
Minions Blindwater 1
Minions Will Work for Food 1
Protectorate Exemplar Interdiction 1
Retribution Legions of Dawn 1
Retribution Shadows of the Retribution 1
Skorne Exalted Host 1
Skorne Imperial Host 1

Once again, we have a diverse and plentiful showing of themes. Jaws of the Wolf and Faithful Masses were both popular, but at an average of one per faction player, it doesn’t seem that off. Trollbloods, though, with two players, and both playing Storm of the North and Band of Heros sticks out, but a sample size of two is very small.

Vlad 3 – Khador – Winter Guard Command 1
Zaadesh – Skorne – Imperial Host 1

This is unremarkablely remarkable. With 42 different lists, 21 players, and nearly every faction represented, the only double list was a quirky and effective Kraye list. I absolutely love the diversity here. It shows that while there may be a lot of contention about lists, there is clearly no overwhelmingly strong list that is drawing all the players.

I look forward to taking an analysis to all this after the LCQ, see what the whole tournament series wrought in terms of lists, players, casters and theme.
